Oliver Caroe is an architect and consultant, specializing in ecclesiastical and historic buildings. His work and experience cover many sectors and include pure conservation to major commercial refurbishments, with a particular emphasis on the sustainability of existing and historic buildings.

As an AABC-accredited specialist in conservation, Oliver has expertise in conserving, repairing and improving churches, from the medieval through to the Victorian. His track record is equally strong as a designer of new buildings and working in sensitive areas, such as complex urban centres, delicate landscapes and the historic built environment, with an emphasis on knowledge and research combined with good architecture.

Oliver’s projects include: the conservation of Kirkstall Abbey; the refurbishment of offices for the House of Lords; and work on the Archives Centre and the School of Pythagoras, both at St John’s College, Cambridge. He was appointed to Ripon Cathedral in May 2010, where he is now involved in several significant projects, including the design and installation of a major new Narthex porch, scheduling and specifying a programme of stonework repairs, delivering the quinquennial inspection and installing new cathedral boilers. Oliver runs a private practice with close links to CAR.
