Jim Ross
BSc DipArch

Trained in architecture, Jim Ross is a designer, teacher and facilitator. His interests lie in community-led design, sustainable construction and counter-urbanism.

Having lectured in Architecture at the University of East London and Oxford Brookes University, he is now a teaching fellow at the University of Cambridge. Jim joined CAR as an Associate in 2009 and became a Director in 2013.

His projects range in scale from one off community workshops to £1.5 million construction contracts. These projects often have complex listed, conservation or landscape constraints. Jim completed a 9-month client brief process for K1 Cohousing in Cambridge and was lead designer for the planning stage of this £9 million cohousing development.

Responsible for practical sustainability at CAR, Jim works with councils, charities and universities as well as private clients to find appropriate and engaging ways of making places and buildings work.
