UK Housing Energy Use
CAR prepared energy figures for the National Statistics publication, Energy Consumption in the UK 2011, released on 28 July 2011. We used our model, the Cambridge Housing Model, to estimate fuel use to provide heating, lighting, cooking and appliances energy in UK homes.
We also analysed data from the English Housing Survey to see how many homes have different heating systems and types of insulation. This information is critical in helping the Government shape policy on housing and climate change.
CAR also developed a tool to make it easy for non-specialists to use the English Housing Survey data, working with Cambridge Econometrics.
