Jeremy Musson is a writer, architectural historian and lecturer on the English country house. He is the author of several books, including English Country House Interiors (2011), English Ruins (2011), Up and Down Stairs: the History of the Country House Servant (2009), The Country Houses of Sir John Vanbrugh (2008), and How to Read A Country House (2006).
An assistant curator for National Trust houses in East Anglia between 1993 and 1995, Jeremy was architectural editor at Country Life magazine from 1998 to 2007, and was also presenter and co-writer of the BBC2 TV series The Curious House Guest about the history and lives of great country houses, screened in 2005 to 2008.
He has written about many aspects of architectural history and conservation as a journalist and historic buildings consultant and has worked on a number of statements of significance of important buildings. Jeremy has also sat on the Victorian Society Buildings Subcommittee, the Council for the Care of Churches Main Committee, the Pevsner Architectural Guides Trust and has chaired the Churches Conservation Trust peer review panel. He sits on the Ely Cathedral fabric advisory committee.
Jeremy has lectured and supervised for the department of art history of the University of Cambridge, and for Kings College, London, and the Paul Mellon Centre. He is the Hon Tutor for the Plunket Scholars of the SPAB and has lectured widely on historic buildings in the UK and US.[Back to Associates]
