CAR’s team of experts has in-depth understanding of why buildings are built, how they are built, and how they perform in use. The following subject areas give an overview of this expertise.

The subject areas are loosely grouped into three stages in the life-cycle of a building project:

  • the pre-design stage when the client requirements and site constraints are analysed, leading up to the design brief
  • the design stage when proposals are identified, evaluated and taken forward into construction
  • the post-design stage when buildings in use are studied and lessons drawn – leading back into the pre-design stage.

But if your needs do not quite fit in any of these subject areas we may still be able to help – please contact us.

Conservation management plans
Activity simulation
Design briefing

Design stage
Structural engineering
Environmental modelling
