With temperatures predicted to rise in the future, understanding the ability of existing domestic buildings to cope is becoming increasingly important. Using the Overheating Appendix of the Government's SAP2009 model, the housing stock's vulnerability to high internal summer temperatures was investigated. Various adaptation methods, such as installing external shutters, were then tested in order to establish their relative effectiveness as solutions.
