Katie Thornburrow is a registered architect with experience in historic and listed buildings. Her main interests are in how important listed buildings can be developed safely and also incorporate the best sustainable principles.

She has taken two degrees at the University of Bath: BSc in architectural studies and BArch in architecture. She has worked as a registered architect for twenty years with projects throughout England and also in Hong Kong, France and the Channel Islands.

She has been a director of Cambridge Architectural Research since 1998, working with Dr William Fawcett on more than ten conservation plans and conservation management strategies. These cover the understanding of important historic and listed buildings and set up conservation strategies to protect important features when the buildings are developed. A project for the University of East Anglia has been included in a pilot study carried out by English Heritage to advise the government on the Heritage reform laws now being carried out.

She also runs an architectural practice in Cambridge with close links to Cambridge Architectural Research.
