Laura Montanini

Laura Montanini is a Chartered Architect with more than 20 years professional experience based in Italy and the UK. She holds a first class Master’s Degree from the Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza, is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and Ordine degli Architetti di Roma (accreditation for professional practice in Italy). She is registered with the UK Architects’ Registration Board.

She has developed expertise in a wide range of disciplines, including architectural design, interior design, project management and acoustics and has worked in collaboration with world-leading designers and architects including Ingo Maurer and Ron Arad.

Laura has a background in music education and for over fifteen years has worked with acoustic specialist Francesco Pellisari, jointly developing design solutions that combine acoustic comfort, sound quality and architectural excellence, often in buildings with a history of severe acoustic problems. She has experience in cross-disciplinary integration and teamwork in construction projects. Laura joined CAR in 2018.

WonderLAD Auditorium (Catania, 2019)
Multifunctional venue that can host up to 300 people for concerts, conferences, theatre and events. Custom-made design, using large triangular suspended wooden panels.

Salone d’Onore del CONI (Rome, 2019)
Conference hall within the monumental complex of Foro Italico. Designed new surface acoustic arrangements and furniture, which complied with the brief’s stipulation that the design must have a reduced visual impact, which could either not be seen or was shielded.

Kosciol Sanktuarium Czestochova (Poland, 2017)
New octagonal‐plan hall for religious celebration and music performance. Patented a specific ceiling configuration. Lead architect: Dettagli di Architettura

Beth Shalom (Cambridge, 2014)
New Community Centre and Worship Space. Designed suspended acoustic devices, surface arrangements for light and acoustic solution. Lead architect: Cowper Griffith Architects

Chapel for closed order of Trappists (Vitorchiano, 2014)
Renovation of internal space and new design of choir stalls. Lead architect: Paolo Marciani

Church of San Lorenzo da Brindisi (Rome, 2012)
New hall fitted inside an existing larger church complex, due for complete renovation. Lead architect: Paolo Marciani

Auditorium Guardia di Finanza (Rome, 2006‐2008)
The acoustic space is surrounded by specially designed wooden walls. Lighting design with the involvement of Ingo Maurer.
